Review: Christmas with the Reeds by Tammy Falkner (Reed Brothers #6.5)
"Christmas is more than just a season. It’s more than unwrapping gifts and spending time with loved ones. It’s a reminder that we’re all here on earth to serve a purpose, and though we might not know what that purpose is today, someday we will, and it will all become clear."
Christmas is a special holiday for countless people all over the world but the Reeds take things up a notch and celebrate it in a way that only they can and bringing a whole new meaning to the season of giving. From figuring out how to put on stockings to passing around gifts to sharing their blessings and changing lives, Paul and Friday, Matt and Sky, Logan and Emily, Sam and Peck, and Pete and Reagan, along with their respective broods plus extended families and friends show what Christmas spirit is truly about.
I'm not ashamed to admit that Christmas with the Reeds, the sixth novella and the twelfth release in the Tammy Falkner-penned Reed Brothers series, one of my all-time favorites. Yes, it's just a book, and a short one at that, but you don't need copious amounts of paper and ink or screen and pixel, whichever you're personal preference, to make an impact and that's exactly what this novella did. The Reeds have come a long way from their time as five parent-less boys to five men with families that they can proudly call their own, ones that they inspire with words and into action and lead by example. It doesn't even have to be Christmas for you to be touched by the story because it's giving and sharing isn't limited to holidays.
The novella is told from the perspective of the five Reed brothers and their wives plus Henry and Josh. Daniel and Faith, from the Finally Finding Faith novella, and the other members of Fallen from Zero also make appearances. While this was released after Zip, Zero, Zilch, the events here are a bit out of order time-wise, since Peck is still very much pregnant here. So, think of this as somewhere before the epilogue of Zip, Zero, Zilch. So far, this is my favorite novella in the series and an absolute standout overall, short story or not. It proves that sometimes, stories that are kept short but sweet are the ones that mean the most. Whether it's Christmas or not, Christmas with the Reeds is a must-read and gets five-plus stars. ♥
