Claiming Marcus (Lords of Discord #1) by Jocelynn Drake Release Date: October 31, 2019 About Claiming Marcus Vampires slaughtered my family. No one believed me until I met some new friends, who promised to help me get justice. But nothing prepared me for Marcus Varik. Tall, dark, and mind-numbingly sexy. But he’s also shy, protective, and adorably eccentric. Oh God, I should have never agreed to betray him. Hopefully, it's not too late to fix my mistake before I lose more people I love. Claiming Marcus is the first book in an MM paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers, music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a raven named Ozzie. Review: Claiming Marcus by Jocelynn Drake (Lords of Discord #1)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via IndiGo Marketing & Design. Ethan wanted to take care of Marcus. It was clear that he was the family protector. He was the one who made the hard decisions and directed the others in order to get things done and keep them safe. But who was there to take care of Marcus? When I first saw the cover and read the blurb for Jocelynn Drake's new novel, I tried to temper my expectations. After all, there's a reason why the adage "Don't judge a book by its cover" is as well-known as it is. Also, being the voracious reader that I am, I've fallen victim to intriguing and enticing blurbs only to have the actual story between the proverbial covers fall short. Claiming Marcus was going to be my first read from Drake as a solo author, having only read her co-authored Unbreakable Bonds , Ward Security , and Pineapple Grove series with Rinda Elliott. Well, consider me absolutely taken by this Lords

Review: Bleed for Her by RB Hilliard (Steele Raiders MC #1)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Enticing Journey Book Promotions. The Steele Raiders is a motorcycle club based in Austin, Texas, and its members are the stars of the Steele Raiders MC series. When I learned RB Hilliard was venturing into MC romance, I was excited to see how she would tackle the trope, and I'm happy to say that she didn't disappoint! There's no pussyfooting here as Hilliard starts off with Bleed for Her , which is the story of Clay Buckson, the Steele Raiders's sergeant-at-arms, and Reynolds Walker, the woman he wants but never believed he could have. Five years ago, Buck believed he had gotten rid of the main threats against Reyn, and even without her knowing it, he's continued to keep an eye on her. She's moved forward as best she can with her life, with a job that she enjoys, friends she's close to, and even a man who treats her with care and respect. But when she returns to her home to find her

Audiobook Review: Always with You by Layla Hagen, narrated by Sebastian York & Andi Arndt (The Connor Family #6)

Image
Note: The audiobook was provided by the author via Wildfire Marketing Solutions. I've only read one Layla Hagen title-- Your Inescapable Love , back in 2016, and I'd loved it--in all my years of reading, and I don't know if I can provide an explanation for why other than the opportunity to read the other books in that series never presented itself. Pathetic, I know, especially since I'm a stickler for reading a series in order and that book was the fourth in The Bennett Family , and now, my first audiobook from Hagen happens to be sixth one in the spin-off series, The Connor Family . Gah! But I've finally added all the books from both series on my never-ending to-be-read list because listening to this newest audio highlights the sad fact that I've been missing out on some fantastic storytelling. As I mentioned, Always with You is book six in the author's The Connor Family series, and it's narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, two of the

Release Blitz: Landon & Shay: Part One by Brittainy C. Cherry

Landon & Shay: Part One (L&S #1) by Brittainy C. Cherry Release Date: October 30, 2019 About Landon & Shay: Part One Shay Gable hated my guts, and I hated hers, too. We went out of our way to avoid one another at all times. When she came my direction, I went the other. When we locked eyes, she’d turn and walk away. All of that changed the day I was presented with a challenge. It started out as a stupid bet: make Shay fall in love with me before I fell in love with her first. That was an easy bet for me to win. I didn’t love, I hardly liked. Yet slowly the game started to shift. Shay made me crave things I never knew I wanted. Love. Happiness. Her. The closer we grew, the more she challenged my darkness, and the parts I kept locked away. The hurts. The pains. The truth. The game between us became too real, our feelings intermixed, and the risks of hurting one another grew higher. But you know what they say... All’s

Review: Landon & Shay: Part One by Brittainy C. Cherry (L&S #1)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR. Everyone was staring as Shay Gable wrapped her arms around her sworn enemy. Everyone looked on as Landon Harrison wrapped his arms around me, too.   He hugged me back.   Oh my gosh, he was hugging me back, and that made me tug on his body even harder. There was no way to tell where his heartbeats began and where mine ended. It was if they were beating as one, as if we were two willows tangled up with each other. You'd think I'd be more than familiar with just how awe-inspiring an author Brittainy C. Cherry is, yet here I am, gobsmacked and at a loss for words. I mean, her books have made me cry before, so the fact that tears were shed this time around was nothing new, but by the time I'd gotten to the end of this novel, there was an ache in my chest and intermingling thoughts and emotions swirling about. Maybe it's because Landon & Shay is a love story told in t

Review: The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan (All the King's Men #1)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR. Kennedy Ryan's much-awaited All the King's duet launches with the first novel, The Kingmaker , and let me tell you, expectations were really high and not just on my end. I fell in love with this author's writing by way of her Grip series and her Hoops collection, and I've already got her even earlier stuff, The Bennetts and Soul series, on my to-be-read list. But even before I could work my way through those books, however, I knew I had to get my greedy bookaholic hands on her newest book, and it's certainly different compared to Ryan's books that I've already read. The Kingmaker introduces readers to Lennix Moon Hunter and Maxim Kingsman Cade, two people from two very different worlds who form a connection that stays with them even through years of separation. When Lennix and Maxim first meet, she's seventeen and protesting a proposed pipeline on sacred lan

Book Spotlight: The Business of Blood by Kerrigan Byrne

Image
The Business of Blood (In the Business of Blood #1) by Kerrigan Byrne Date Released: October 20, 2019 About The Business of Blood London, 1890. Blood and death are Fiona Mahoney’s trade, and business, as they say, is booming. Dying is the only thing people do with any regularity, and Fiona makes her indecorous living cleaning up after the corpses are carted away. It’s been two years since Fiona scrubbed Mary’s blood from the floorboards, and London is no longer buzzing about the Ripper, but Fiona hasn’t forgotten. She hasn’t stopped searching for Jack. When she’s called to a murder in the middle of the night, Fiona finds a victim mutilated in an eerily similar fashion to those of the Ripper, and only a few doors down from Mary’s old home. The relentless and irritatingly handsome Inspector Grayson Croft warns her away from the case. She might have listened, if she hadn’t found a clue in
