Review: Before You by Marni Mann

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR.

Before You is the new novel from Marni Mann, and this was certainly an unexpected read that had twists and turns that keep you on your toes. The blurb for the book barely skims over the story line--whatever it is you think you're going to get, think again because there is far more to this than two strangers who sit side by side on a flight and form a connection. To be fair, though, it is as Billie Paige sits in her airline seat and Jared Morgan takes the one beside her that this extraordinary novel first takes flight. However, there's more than one love story that is told here, each one proving to be life changing for both couples and not just during one lone particular moment either.

Writing this review is difficult, but not because I didn't love the book. This is only my second read from this author and Marni Mann has yet to disappoint. What makes putting my thoughts on the proverbial page more difficult than usual is that I don't want to give anything away but then how do I fully explain just how special this book is without mentioning details? Well, I'm going to try by saying that I loved that there were two different timelines here, each one chronicling two different love stories. Whether or not those are connected to one another is something new readers are going to have to learn for themselves once they pick up the book. Suffice it to say that there were some really heartrending moments, one in particular that broke my heart and another that had me wondering if a happy ending was possible. Now, before anyone frets that this doesn't end happily, this actually does end on a very hopeful note and with my smiling in satisfaction. Before You is a standalone and gets five stars. ♥
