Review: Gilded Love: The Complete Box Set by Kilby Blades

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Grey's Promotions. Kilby Blades is a new-to-me author and her Gilded Love: The Complete Box Set was certainly quite an introduction to her writing. This box set is comprised of two full-length novels, Snapdragon and Chrysalis , two novellas, Vertical and Loaded , and a short story, Sleigh My Name . The first two books are directly connected, what with featuring the same couple and continuing story line, and MUST be read in order so as to understand everything that goes on. The novellas have two different couples, and the short is part of the first two novels' story. All that being said, the books obviously share the same world and were good reads. The entire set averages to a four-star rating; Below are detailed explanations for each of the Gilded Love  stories: Darby Christensen (32, psychopharmacologist at Northwestern Memorial) and Michael Blaine (31, architect with Dewey and Rowe) are the main characters in S

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by 1001 Dark Nights Press via Social Butterfly PR. We're back in Seattle with the latest novella in the With Me in Seattle series from bestselling author Kristen Proby and published by 1001 Dark Nights Press. Change with Me finds thirty-year-old superstar actor Zane Cooper heading to Seattle to be close to his best friend while riding out a scandal that could very well derail his acting career. Renting a new and fully furnished condo for the next six months makes sense; what doesn't make sense, however, is agreeing to share the space with a woman who says she's a new renter as well. Something about twentysomething Aubrey Stansfield not only piques Zane's interest, but also makes him want to explore the connection between them. How can he convince this fascinating girl who sees herself as ordinary that she's the most extraordinary thing that someone like him--anyone--could ever hope to love? Ooh, I do believe this is no

Review: Secrets & Lies by Brooke Blaine & Ella Frank

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors. The air outside may be nippy, but Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank's newest standalone M/M romance is bound to get fans and readers hot and bothered. Secrets & Lies is a forbidden romance between a thirty-six-year-old art teacher and his eighteen-year-old student. When Ash Delaney and Ryder Ellis first meet, the attraction isn't just mutual, it's momentous. The next time they see each other leaves them both stupefied. A line is drawn, one that Ash is determined not to cross, but Ryder proves to be an irresistible temptation. Ash knows better than to act on his feelings, but lust--and something that feels like...more--doesn't play by any rules, and maybe Ryder is worth breaking every single one of them. The question is: What could it cost them? If you're a reader who's sensitive about age gaps and relationships that may be looked upon with disapproval by many, then here's your heads-up because th

Review: If Only in My Dreams by Carrie Aarons

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Carrie Aarons delivers a heartwarming holiday romance in her newest standalone. If Only My Dreams is a story about second chances with an lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers feel to it. Madison Goldwin and Porter Kelly were once young and in love, albeit neither one admitting to feeling the latter. She's back in their hometown after her husband unexpectedly divorced her. After a rather caustic reunion in the grocery, Madison wants nothing more than to cancel the holidays. But she doesn't really have much of a choice but to be merry and bright, what with her parents insisting that she do her share with the family business. The clincher? Porter works for her parents, being all swoony while serenading those who ride the Christmas train. Maybe this is a second chance for them to rekindle what they once shared, but this could also be yet another opportunity for Porter to break Madison's fragile heart. This was an entert

Review: Come Again by Lauren Blakely (Big Rock #7)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Dear Bellamy,   I do not cuddle.   Easton   * * *   Dear Easton,   No. It's more like you wrap yourself around me, octopi style.   Bellamy Ah, to be back in Lauren Blakely's Big Rock book universe is a joy that I am so not taking for granted. It's been over four years since readers were last here, so when Blakely announced that she had a new book in the series coming, the anticipation was boundless. This series is a personal favorite as well, given that Big Rock was my very first read from this author back in 2016, and I've been hooked on her writing ever since. All this being said, Come Again can very much be read independently of the first six Big Rock novels, but certainly wouldn't stop you if you decide to peruse those titles. Consider this my not-so-subtle prod for you to do exactly that! Come Again is a romantic comedy featuring rivals intent on proving to the public that their way trumps the
