Review: Fracture by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott (Unbreakable Bonds #6)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors via IndiGo Marketing & Design. If this was life with the general, then he'd happily take it. He'd embrace the insanity, explosions, and danger if it meant that at the end of it all, he was able to crawl into bed with Snow and wrap his body around his lover's. I can never get enough of Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott's writing, having fallen in love with their books in not one, not two, but three series. So, of course, when I heard they were going to release a sixth full-length novel in the series that started it all-- Unbreakable Bonds , for those of you who have yet to dive into all that awesomeness--there wasn't any inkling of doubt that I would be reading Fracture . (Side note: I've read all of Drake and Elliott's work as a writing duo, but I have yet to read their stuff as solo authors, a misstep I hope to rectify this year!) While it IS possible to read this book as a sta

Review: Demon You Love by L.A. Fiore (Lost Boys #2)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR. Demon You Love is the second novel in the Lost Boys series penned by L.A. Fiore, and dare I say that this could possibly be even better than the first one, Devil You Know . This is the story of Anton Scalene, born into a hell that he was forced to continue living in for too many years. When he was only fifteen, he took a life in order to survive, but he swore that he wanted to do more than merely survive. He wanted to get out from the world that he knew and become a success. Years pass, and while Anton does achieve his goals, he still finds himself alone, without anyone to share his life with, but maybe it's better that way. There's a darkness that surrounds and is within him. Then he sees Piper Olson. She's the glimmering light that his soul craves and his heart reaches out to. But a man like him can't have a woman like her, not if he wants to protect him from the very past that h

Worse, he has figured out how desperate I am to protect my father from brutality behind bars. He has the power to grant that protection and he has offered it … for a price. Me. I am to become a prisoner in his playhouse mansion, to live with him until he tires of having me around. I'll do anything for my father, including agree to Gabriel's cruel game. But I won't comply with his every whim and wish. Not when he taunts me with that ruthless spark in his cold blue eyes. Not when he requires that I share his bedroom at night. Unfortunately for me, I think my loathing for hi

Review: Sweet Mercy by Nina West (Dirty Empire #1)

Image
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR. Sweet Mercy is my introduction to Nina West's writing, and it also happens to be the first novel in her new Dirty Empire series . Let me get this out of the way: yes, this ends in an evil cliffhanger, and yes, I am quite frustrated because waiting is just torturous. Not that I was surprised by the cliffy considering this is a series, and well, when I call a cliffy evil, it has a lot to do with the fact that I was really into the story and wanted more immediately, but I don't always get what I want so...there. Obviously, West has my attention, her newest story has my interest, and her main characters have my investment, and by that I mean my emotional investment. Have mercy on my heart! Visiting a parent in prison is difficult enough, but knowing that he isn't guilty of the crime he was convicted of has twenty-five-year-old Mercy Wheeler even more worried. She wishes she could find so
