Review: The Boyfriend Experience by Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde (The Boyfriend Experience #1)

Prior to release, this book was entitled Total Package, and even though it was published with The Boyfriend Experience as its title, it really was the total package in terms of a romance read. Penned by the bestselling duo of Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde and the first in their new series of the same name, this is the story of Eric Miller, who was originally introduced in Wilde's Tall, Dark & Sexy series featuring the Stone brothers--Leo (Eric's business partner), Dylan (the creator of the Boyfriend Experience app), and Aiden. When Eric discovers that his friend Dylan has not just installed an app on his phone but created a profile for it, he isn't a happy camper. Then his curiosity gets the better of him. There must be a reason why Evie Bennett needs a fake boyfriend by her side during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and when they meet face to face, he's taken by not just Evie's beauty but her personality as well. All Evie's hoping for is her money's worth, but the last thing she expected was to fall for her ideal fake boyfriend who makes her wish it were all real.

Gah! I absolutely loved this book! Evie and Eric were the sort of main characters that were oh-so-easy to love and the connection they shared was one that simply grew the more time they were together. I may not be a fan of the whole fake relationship trope, but when the story is written as well as Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde have done, then there was no way for me to resist. Since I read Wilde's Tall, Dark & Sexy books, it was fun seeing some of the characters from there, but the ones who stole the spotlight here were Evie's very open parents and her flirty brother and his boyfriend and Eric's still grieving mother. Evie's family brought the laughs and Eric's mom brought the more heartrending feels, but then that doesn't mean all Evie and Eric handled was the romance part. These two had the sort of banter that was witty but they also had serious conversations. I'm not sure who will be in the books to follow in the series, but my fingers are crossed that they'll be as irresistible as Eric and Evie and their story in The Boyfriend Experience. Five stars! ♥
