Sweet (Landry Family #6) by Adriana Locke Release Date: February 28, 2022 About Sweet Chemistry is not another word for love. That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says anyway. I have my V-card. He’s ten years older than me. I work for him. Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce. He can’t deny the sparks when we’re together. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed. Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers —whether Nate likes it or not. He’s right—we do have an intense chemistry. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him … even if he can’t love me back. Sweet  can be read as a standa

Review: Thick as Thieves by Lucy Lennox (Aster Valley #4)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Lucy Lennox takes readers back to the picturesque town of Aster Valley in Colorado with the fourth full-length Aster Valley novel, Thick as Thieves . This is the much awaited friends-to-lovers romance between Julian Thick and Parker Ellis, aka Jules and Parks. These two have been the best of friends since they were young kids, and Julian has probably been in love with Parker for just as long. But while Julian is gay, Parker is straight, and because Julian loves Parker beyond measure, being his best man at his wedding was a no-brainer. His heart, however, may never recover. So, he's decided it's time to move forward from his unrequited love, and time away from Parker will help. Then Parker ends up becoming a jilted groom, and Jules decides to take him to Aster Valley to help him get over being left at the altar. When certain truths come to light, how will things change for these two BFFs? It was difficult to not fal

Review: The Bully by Willa Nash (Calamity, Montana #4)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Willa Nash is back with the fourth novel--and fifth overall release--in her small-town romance series, Calamity, Montana . The Bully is an enemies-to-lovers romance with a wee bit to a twist to it. This isn't your typical "bully romance" either. Instead, the bullying took place back when the main characters were in high school. That doesn't mean, however, that Nellie Rivera has forgiven nor forgotten how Cal Stark treated her when they were teenagers. Unfortunately, Nellie's boss happens to be Cal's best friend, so their paths still cross, but as long as their encounters are (VERY) few and (REALLY) far between, she's good. Then she learns that Cal's decided to move to Calamity now that he's retired from playing professional football at the rather young age of thirty-three. The small town is going to feel even smaller once he's around, and Calamity simply isn't big enough for

Review: Royal Pickle by JJ Knight (Royally Pickled #1)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions. Pickle me this, fellow romance readers: What do you get when you have a playboy prince of a tiny European kingdom proposing marriage to the girl working at a deli counter in New York who rescued him from rabid paparazzi? A hilariously endearing romantic comedy from JJ Knight set in her much loved Pickle verse. Having said that, you don't necessarily need to read any of the other Pickle  books, but if you adore entertaining, well-written rom-coms, I'm going to happily recommend you check them all out. Royal Pickle is the story of Leopold the Second, Prince of Avalonia, twenty-nine-year-old heir apparent, and Sunny Marie Packwood, twenty-seven-year-old budding poet with pickle pedigree, aka Leo and Sunny. With just a couple of weeks before he turns thirty, time's a-ticking for Leo, because if he doesn't find a bride of his choosing, his parents--aka the King and Queen--will d

Review: Sweet by Adriana Locke (Landry Family #6)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. Team Harlee FTW! This book is proof that patience wins out...and maybe some consistent yet loving badgering from persistent and hopeful readers of a favorite author (cough*Adriana Locke*cough). If you don't know what Team Harlee is and who this Harlee may be, well, then I highly suggest you read Locke's  The Relationship Pact , which is part of the multi-authored Kings of Football trilogy, and Resolution , the fifth book in the Mason Family series. Or join Books by Adriana Locke, which is the author's official Facebook group. Full disclosure: I'm more of a lurker than anything else, but it's a fun-filled group of peeps over there. Sweet is the sixth novel in the Landry Family series, and I suspect it's the last one but don't hold me to that! Twenty-one-year-old Paige Carmichael leads a pretty good life. She's set to start college after a three-year break after high school, she's got a sup

Review: The Chase by Victoria Denault (Racing Hearts #1)

Victoria Denault is known for her hockey romances, but now, she's switching gears and lanes with her Racing Hearts series, turning the spotlight on Formula One.  The Chase is the first book, and it introduces readers to the Mirabelli Racing Team, co-owned by one of racing greats, Sebastian Castera. When he decides the time has come for him to retire, he hands over the reins to his elder daughter, Francesca, who knows all too well she has her work cut out for her. Not only is she a female and young at twenty-eight, but she's also seen as nothing more than a social media influencer, albeit a highly successful one. But racing is in Frankie's blood, and she's prepared to prove herself worthy. The greatest complication, however, comes in the form of William James. The twenty-seven-year-old F1 driver is one of the best around and he proudly drives for Mirabelli. But ten years ago, he ghosted Frankie and never expl

Review: A Wild Card Kiss by Lauren Blakely (Happy Endings #1)

Image
Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author. A Wild Card Kiss is the first full-length novel in Lauren Blakely's Happy Endings series, the first release being the novella My Single-versary , which can be read independently of this new book. This is Harlan Taylor and Katie Madigan's story, and it's a second-chance romance of sorts mixed with a sports romance feel. Harlan is twenty-nine and Katie twenty-eight when they meet as plus-ones for their respective best friends during a wedding. The attraction is instant and they share a mind-blowing kiss that has them eager for a proper first date. That is, until a life-changing opportunity has Katie moving from San Francisco to Los Angeles and leaving both of them wondering what could have been but moving on nonetheless.
