Review: Dear Heart, I Hate You by Eliah Greenwood (Easton High #2)

Nooooo! How could you do this to me, Eliah Greenwood?! I was happily going from page to page and chapter to chapter, and then BAM! CLIFFHANGER!!! Waaah! The frustration was real, but that's what happens when you become as invested as I had been while reading Dear Heart, I Hate You, which is the second novel in Greenwood's Easton High series. You don't necessarily need to read the series starter, Dear Love, I Hate You, but there are recurring characters from there who have very close ties to the main characters in this new book. That first book was an awesome read, one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to those new to either the author or this series. Add it to your to-be-read list!

Dear Heart, I Hate You is Finley Richards and Diamond Mitchell's story. If you're familiar with the series, then you'll no doubt recall that Finn is best friends with Xavier Emery and Dia with Aveena Harper, Xav and Vee being the main characters in Dear Love, I Hate You. Dia crosses Finn's path when she answers an ad his father places for a house sitter over the summer. The only company she would have was the family dog, Lexie. Mr. Richards' older son no longer lived there, and the younger one was off to basketball camp. But Finn's home and while he's told he can't fire Dia, that doesn't mean he can't find some way to get her to quit. Looks like it'll be one long, hot, and interesting summer.

Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes for a reason. All that tension and the underlying emotions simmering throughout, up until it bubbles over and the main characters give in to anything and everything that they're feeling. Eliah Greenwood delivers that plus angst, wit, and naturally, lust and love and all the good stuff in between. Finn isn't the easiest of guys to love, but he makes the journey getting there worth the heartrending moments. And Dia? She gives him a run for his money, refusing to be the kind of girl who would let someone bully her into submission, regardless of how hot he may be. I can't wait for the rest of their story in May! Five stars for Dear Heart, I Hate You.
