Review: Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley (Chaos #3)

Note: This ARC was provided by Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. And all this came about when she stated, "You don't heal from that, Carson. Not from that. My God ," she threw out both hands, "how magnificent of a man do you have to be to go through what you went through, doing it alone, nobody to ease the way, the pain, no mother, no bother, no sister, all by yourself enduring that and fight your way to becoming all that you are . It isn't amazing. It's a darned miracle." The last time Carissa Teodoro saw Carson Steele, she told him to go after his beautiful life and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Later she found a sketch he had made of her tucked in her locker with a note saying that she deserved a beautiful life as well. Neither had any clue that they shared the same feelings for one another, Carson believing Carissa deserved someone much better than him, and Carissa thinking that Carson was

Review: A Christmas to Remember by Various Authors (Lucky Harbor #8.5, Chaos #2.5, Last Chance #6.5, Everson, TX #0.5, Tallgrass #1.5)

A Christmas to Remember is a collection of holiday short stories from authors Jill Shalvis, Kristen Ashley, Hope Ramsay, Molly Cannon, and Marilyn Pappano. Each of the stories is part of a series and individual reviews can be found below. While it isn't Christmas at the moment, the stories are ones that will put a bit of love and hope in your heart. The book as a whole gets 4.5 stars. ^.^ Dream a Little Dream by Jill Shalvis (Lucky Harbor #8.5) When firefighter Ian O'Mallery is called to a fire at the building where the girl who broke his heart lives, he rescues Melissa Mann and sits by her bedside as she regains consciousness. Realizing that Ian is the only man she wants to be with has Melissa coming up with a plan to win him back. But could she six months too late? Shockingly, this is the first Jill Shalvis story I've ever read. Yes, I admit it. Feel free to pelt me with paperbacks. I'm a bit embarrassed but I will say that I have her Lucky Harbor ser

Author Spotlight: Laurelin McGee, Miss Match

In line with the release of their first full-length novel, Miss Match , authors Laurelin Paige and Kayti McGee, also known under the pseudonym of Laurelin McGee, graciously answered a few questions so we can all get to know this writing duo and their work a little better. ^.^ Enjoy! A Q&A with Laurelin McGee 1.     What is the overall series about? This is great, no one’s asked us this one. The two books and novella that comprise the series are all standalones, and Love Struck isn’t even through edits yet. However, the overall theme of each story is of overcoming your past. In Miss Match , Andy’s coming off a really bad experience with a prior boss, and it’s hard to let Blake in. In MisTaken (available in Lora Leigh’s Hot Alphas anthology), it’s Jaylene’s crazy feminism that she has to reconcile with the hot guy who wants to dominate her in bed. We’re big believers that your history should never stand in the way of true love--or hot sex! 2.     What ins

Review: Miss Match by Laurelin McGee

Note: This ARC was provided by St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review. Andrea Dawson may be desperate to find a job but she's not sure if applying for the position of matchmaker is something she wants to do. Her new boss is Blake Donovan, the oh-so-gorgeous but oh-so-obnoxious self-made millionaire, and she can't deny that even with his personality flaws, she's attracted to the guy. It's not as if he's even interested in her, seeing as she doesn't meet any of the requirements he's mentioned for his wife-to-be. So, all she has to do is find him his ideal bride and pretend she doesn't notice the connection between them. Pretty easy...right? Blake Donovan needs the picture-perfect wife, someone who meets all his needs and wants, but he doesn't have the time to go searching for potential candidates on his own. His need for a personal concierge brings him Andy Dawson, the woman he prefers to call Drea just because he can. She

Being a single mother requires Kara Larsen to be on her game and to multitask when situations call for it. Losing her toddler Nadia twice in one day triggers her greatest fear, but it sparks unexpected anger from NYFD paramedic Reid Bennett, the man who finds her missing child both times. Humiliated by Reid's harsh reprimand, Kara can't seem to catch a break when Nadia begins to turn blue a few hours later and the responding team just happens to include Reid. Rushing Nadia to the hospital creates a bond of sorts between the two and soon enough, their paths seem to cross all around the city, making Kara wonder if her mother who died on September 11, 2001 could finally be sending her a sign in the form of Reid. Woohoo! We finally get Kara Larsen's story! Kara was the one character from the multi-authored Christmas in New York series that had yet to have her story told,

Review: Faking Perfect by Rebecca Phillips

Note: This ARC was provided by Kensington Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. For a moment, all I could hear was the rustle of the  leaves in the lilac bush and the occasional car on the road  beside us. I was sure people were looking at us, intrigued  by the teenage couple embracing in public for all to see,  but I no longer cared about who might be watching or  what they might think of me. For once, I was exactly  where I was supposed to be. Lexi Shaw puts on just the right amount of make-up to cover her freckles and other flaws and hangs out with the right group of friends. Her friends don't understand why she spends so much time with her neighbor Nolan Bruce, who just also happens to be her best friend. Her friends have no clue that she's had a crush on one of them, the too-perfect-for words Ben Dorsey. Her friends think her father is dead when, the truth is, Lexi has no clue since she and her irresponsible mother moved away fourteen years ago

Review: Red Carpet Kiss by Melissa Brown

Note: This ARC was provided by Montlake Romance via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Eleanor Riley's personal experience with love and heartbreak spawned a bestselling series of books that have now inspired a successful primetime television series. It's been ten years since she allowed herself the possibility of becoming involved with someone, but Luke Kingston, a new addition to the series, makes it difficult for her to remember why she's so against it. He's gorgeous, a fine actor, and an all-around good guy who has yet to become blinded by the trappings of the business. And just when things are heating up between the two of them, Elle's past catches up with her and the man who calls her "Rigby", Troy Saladino, stirs up feelings she thought she had long buried within the pages of her books and scripts. Does Elle go for the man who first owned her heart or does she go for the one who's made it come to life? Red Carpet Kiss is a
