Review: "The Quick and the Undead" by Kimberly Raye (Tombstone, Texas #1)

Image
Note: This ebook was provided by BelleBooks via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The Quick and the Undead is the first in the Tombstone, Texas series by author Kimberly Raye. The premise of a legendery town like Tombstone being turned into a tourist attraction that allows guests to fully experience what life must have been like at the height of the town's notoriety but with the main players being the actual people who lived at that time (cowboys and outlaws who were turned into vampires) was certainly an original one. Add to that a human for the female lead character and you end up with a book that promises to be an interesting paranormal romance ride. Riley Davenport is a travel blogger and her latest tourist spot to check out is the one in Tombstone, Texas. The minute her eyes land on a man that screams "alpha", she knows she should keep her distance but there's something about him that she seems unable to resist. She's experienced firsth

Review: "Pairing Off" by Elizabeth Harmon (Red Hot Russians #1)

Image
Note: This ARC was provided by Carina Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Pairing Off is a contemporary romance novel by author Elizabeth Harmon and is set in the wonderful world of figure skating. I've been a figure skating fan since the early 90s and my favorite pair of all time Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov. When I saw that this book was about a two figure skaters who are brought together to form a new team, my interest was immediately piqued and I was thrilled when I was approved to read and review it. ^.^ This is the first in the debut  Red Hot Russians series! ♥ Carrie Parker is an American figure skater whose last partner was caught in bed with a judge at the very competition they had just won as champions. Now disgraced and looked upon as a pariah of sorts, Carrie receives an offer to pair up with another partner. The catch is that she has to fly to Russia to meet her potential new coach and new partner-to-be. When she finally sees who

Review: "The Merchant of Death" by Lisa Henry & J.A. Rock (Playing the Fool #2)

Image
Note: This ARC was provided by Riptide Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The Merchant of Death is the second book in the Playing the Fool series by the writing team of Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock and picks up soon after the events of the first book. As always when it comes to book series, I highly recommend that you read the books in order because that helps build the foundation as the series progresses. And well, the first book is really good as well so go and read it before starting this one! ^.^ Henry Page has run away...again. This time, though, he's got a good reason for doing so. His sister Viola called him asking for his help. But Henry isn't Henry to Viola. To her, he is and always will be Sebastian or, as she fondly calls him, Sebby. The Hanes twins only have one another to rely on and with Viola being in the condition she's in, Henry/Sebastian takes full responsibility and will do whatever he can for her. Ryan "Mac"

Review: "Of Anime and the Baeci" by Alessandra Ebulu

Image
Note: This ARC was provided by Less Than Three Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Of Anime and the Baeci is an M/M novella written by Alessandra Ebulu and is part of the Geek Out collection of novellas from publisher Less Than Three Press. The novellas are not connected to one another so each one can be read as a standalone. This was a quick and uniquely creative read and one that I actually enjoyed, especially since a lot was packed into a story so short. Ray Zielki hasn't been in his new apartment that long but already he can't stand the Japanese songs that are blaring through his walls, no thanks to his neighbor. When he knocks on the door to make his pissed off feelings known, he's taken aback by the uniquely captivating appearance of Cata Nanuq, lover of all things anime and manga, two things Ray is totally clueless about. Cata Nanuq immediately notices how good looking his next door neighbor but he would love to educate the guy on j

Review: "Wings Over Poppies" by J.A. DeRouen (Over #2)

Image
Note: This ARC was provided by Patchwork Press Cooperative via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Wings Over Poppies is the second novel in the Over series by J.A. DeRouen and, after finishing the first book in the series, I admit that I went into this one with a bit of trepidation. I had high hopes for its predecessor and was left disappointed and I seriously didn't want a repeat performance. Suffice it to say that by the time I finished this book, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself satisfied with almost every aspect of this new release. Don't you just love it when your expectations are exceeded above and beyond?  Alexandra "Alex" Fontaine is a successful artist and gallery owner and has been living the life she's always dreamt for herself. Only there's something that's been missing for six years. Not something. Someone. When she first met West Adler, she was a seventeen-year-old torn between following the map her parents had

Review: "Hope Over Fear" by J.A. DeRouen (Over #1)

Image
Hope Over Fear is the first book in the Over series and the debut novel of J.A. DeRouen. I purchased the book a few days ago, both because it was on sale and the blurb caught my attention. It's difficult to say "no" to a 99-cent book that has an intriguing story line, people. When I saw that the sequel to this particular book was up for review on NetGalley, I bit the bullet and requested for it. I know, I know. Like I needed another book to add to the pile that was already threatening to tumble over. Upon approval, I decided to read this first because I'm anal and things need to be done in order. ^.^  Sara Preston is a woman who's last relationship has left her with the kind of reputation that could have given Hester Prynne's a run for her money. Not only did she lose her boyfriend but she lost her best friend too, both being one and the same person. She wants to make amends to him and asks for his forgiveness and he gives it. He's moved on with h

Review: "Kyland" by Mia Sheridan (Sign of Love #7)

Image
Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Goodness. Where do I even begin? I didn't think Mia Sheridan could amaze me more than she already had with one of my 2014 favorites, Archer's Voice , but obviously, I underestimated the gift this woman was blessed with because I found myself completely awestruck by the time I finished her latest offering, Kyland . I've read almost all the books in the Sign of Love series except for the last two releases which I was planning on finally reading this month. But even though I have yet to read the two previous books prior to this new one, I don't think I would be overstating it when I say that each one ends up breathtakingly surpassing the already high expectations and standards set by those that came before it.  "I love you, Kyland. And I'll love you whether you're here in Dennville, or whether you're in New York City, or London, or on Jupiter. I love you." "

Review: "Devlin UnLeashed" by Bethany Bazile

Image
Note: This ebook was provided by Patchwork Press Cooperative via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Devlin UnLeashed is a new adult novel by Bethany Bazile that I would classify under the romantic suspense genre. It's about a young woman who has a chance meeting with a mysterious man outside of a coffee shop and is soon pursued relentlessly by said man. However, the man in question is keeping secrets that he's afraid will destroy the fragile relationship he has with the young woman the minute she finds out who he really is. Can a love based on a lies and hate truly survive? Juliana Callahan is a young woman in her final year of college. She may seem put together but beneath the seemingly perfect facade is someone who is scarred by a traumatic incident in her past. When she accidentally bumps into a man outside of the cafe she frequents, she's immediately taken in by the air of mystery that surrounds him. She hesitates in pursuing a relationship with hi
