Review: Remind Me by Samantha Chase (Magnolia Sound #1)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR.

Remind Me is the full-length follow-up the Magnolia Sound prequel novella, Sunkissed Days, and yes, this is the part where I insist that you must read these two books in order because Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford's love story does start in the novella and continues six years after in the novel. They're both great reads and if you're a fan of romances in general or ones set in small towns in particular, it won't be a sacrifice on your end to read these two books. Samantha Chase is one of my go-to authors when it comes to romance series that have one specific family at the heart of them, and she's gotten off to a marvelous start with Magnolia Sound.

It's been six years since the summer that Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford fell in love--the same summer in which Jake summarily broke Mallory's heart. Since then, life's taken them in different directions, and while Jake has returned to Magnolia Sound, Mallory has made every effort to avoid returning whenever possible. The passing of someone who meant the world to both of them, however, finds her back to the place that holds a great deal of memories. The time has come for Mallory and Jake to say goodbye to an amazing man, but Jake can't help but wonder if this could also be their opportunity to find--and fight for--the love that neither of them has gotten over.

I'm the sort of romance reader that doesn't like being stuck in one sub-genre or one particular style of writing. I don't always need to read the down and dirty parts, yet I love how Samantha Chase still brings that air of sexiness in her books because sexiness can be subtle, people. From the moment that Jake and Mallory left me hanging in Sunkissed Days, I was hoping they would get their respective acts and GET TOGETHER already! In my heart of hearts, I felt that they needed the years apart to help them reach a better place that would make them more prepared to finally be a couple for more than one summer. Sappy but so true! Remind Me won my heart. 4.5 stars! ♥
