Review: Enemy Heir by Carrie Ann Ryan & Nana Malone (Tattered Royals #2)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the authors via Valentine PR.

Enemy Heir is the much awaited second book in the Tattered Royals series from the writing duo of Carrie Ann Ryan and Nana Malone. While the series starter, Royal Line, got things off to a fantastic start, it's almost as if Ryan and Malone took things up a notch or two with this follow-up. Here we've got Breck Waterford, royal rogue and the bane of Sparrow Bridges' existence. He's got a reputation for being a playboy, and it's one that he's actually earned. Sparrow has kept his distance from him, focusing on her job as a security specialist and not on how hot Alden's prince is. But when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a stalker, it's Breck that she turns to for a bit of help. The more time with him, though, the more Sparrow realizes that what people see of Breck is barely scratching the surface. There's more to him than meets the eye, but will letting her guard down set her up for heartache?

I love it when a series gets better with each new release, and that's exactly the case with the Tattered Royals series. I liked Royal Line, but I loved Enemy Heir, and that could be due in large part to all that delicious tension happening between the main characters mixed in with the action and suspense amidst the royal romance. Breck and Sparrow had the sort of character development that made me feel like being as emotionally invested as I'd been was worth it. Ditto with the story itself, one that I found was wholly entertaining from the moment you start reading that first chapter till you get to the very end. I enjoyed getting to know Breck and Sparrow better, and their romance made for an awesome read. Five stars go to Enemy Heir.
