Review: The Rhythm Method by Kylie Scott (Stage Dive #4.8)

The Rhythm Method is the newest novella in Kylie Scott's highly popular Stage Dive series. After three novellas featuring new couples who weren't part of the actual band, Scott takes readers back to the couple that started it all--David and Evelyn Ferris (Lick, book one of Stage Dive). It's been seven years since a then-twenty-one-year-old Evelyn Thorne woke up in Vegas married to twenty-six-year-old David Ferris none other than the guitarist of Stage Dive, one the world's most famous bands. Add on eight and a half weeks since Evelyn and David celebrated their seventh anniversary in Paris, and they're both about to come to a whole new kind of realization--one that will change everything and one who's not willing to wait any longer.

I always look forward to these novellas from Kylie Scott via the 1001 Dark Nights publishing arm because readers get snippets of the original Stage Dive couples while new ones are finding love while working for and around the Stage Dive peeps. I was doubly excited for this new novella, though, because it features David and Evelyn, and the whole surprise pregnancy aspect of the story was unlike anything I've come across before--a cryptic pregnancy! As much as I liked seeing Evelyn embracing motherhood, I confess that David slipped a notch or two in my opinion. I get the shock and the need to come to terms with parenthood, but yeah, I wasn't a fan of how he handled it or the aftermath. Still, I was tickled pink that the rest of the band was fully supportive of these two, but Mal was definitely the MVP of this loyal crew. The Rhythm Method gets 3.5 stars.
