Review: Christmas Wish List by N.R. Walker (Hartbridge Christmas #2)

N.R. Walker takes readers back to the quaint town of Hartbridge, Montana in the second book from her Hartbridge Christmas series, Christmas Wish List. You don't need to read the series starter, Tic-Tac-Mistletoe, in order to understand what happens in this second book, although Hamish Kenneally and Ren Brooks are supporting characters in this new story, plus the first book was a fun read, so who I am to stop you from reading it? (GO READ IT ALREADY!) This time around, we've got another Australian who comes to Hartbridge, although twenty-eight-year-old Jayden Turner is an expatriate who's been in the US since he was fifteen. That doesn't mean that he's necessarily planted roots though. His work as a chef takes him from one place to another until he feels the urge to leave. Working as a temporary chef over the holidays for a soon-to-open bed and breakfast in Hartbridge should give him time to figure out where he's headed next. But that was before he met Carter Campion. Thirtysomething Cass stirs a myriad of feelings in Jayden, but with Cass being Jayden's boss and Jayden leaving in a few weeks, nothing can happen between them. Right?

If you're looking for something heartwarming for those of us living in cooler temperatures, or if you've yet to kick off your holiday romance reading for the year, look no further than N.R. Walker's Christmas Wish List. Jayden and Cass were an interesting pair who seem to have entered each other's lives at just the right time. Cass (and Hartbridge, Montana) gave Jayden that feeling of home, while Jayden gave Cass the freedom to accept and embrace who he truly is. I appreciated the fact that nothing was overly rushed with these two. Yes, they were attracted to each other, but they also built these great kinship, both as friends and as employer-employee. This had a wonderful mix of sweet and steamy and Christmassy feels, and it easily snags 4.5 stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
