Review: Wild Open Hearts by Kathryn Nolan (Bluewater Billionaires #3)

Wild Open Hearts is the third novel in the multi-authored Bluewater Billionaires series, a collection of four stories about four best friends who have made names for themselves in their respective industries and amassed billions in the process. Book three is penned by Kathryn Nolan, and this is my first read from this particular author. Luna da Rosa has created an empire with her vegan make-up company, Wild Heart. She's a social media darling and beloved as a modern-day hippie. But then everything she's worked hard for is put at risk when a scandal rocks Wild Heart, and the ensuing backlash from former fans and followers have her scrambling to fix her public image. This is where Beck Mason comes into the picture. Owing his heritage to the most infamous and notorious biker gang in Miami, Beck's decision to step away and start a non-profit dog rescue was a conscious effort. However, Lucky Dog needs funding, so when he's approached by Luna, it looks everyone benefits from the arrangement. Could there be even better benefits when a meat-loving grump and a vegan with a sunny disposition begin to fall for each other?
Out of the three currently available books, Kathryn Nolan's contribution to the series has become my second favorite of the lot. I'm a sucker when it comes to books with dogs in them, and Beck was the sort of guy that I enjoy reading about: stubborn and set in his ways but with a soft spot for fur babies. He was definitely easy to like and getting to know him was one of my favorite things about this book. It took a bit longer than usual for me to warm up to Luna. I know she was the hippie with a good heart and had good intentions, but there was something about her that made me somewhat hesitant to believe she was as good as she made herself out to be. As a first read from Nolan, I was impressed with her writing and character and story development. The romance was lighthearted with a couple of moments that brought a smile to my face. Naturally, me being the proud fur mama that I am, the dogs were the bonus of this story, and they were truly the most endearing aspect of the book, followed by Beck (sorry, Beck!). Wild Open Hearts gets 4.5 stars, and I'll be checking out Kathryn Nolan's back list. ♥
