Review: If You Dare by Jessica Lemmon

If You Dare is a standalone contemporary romance from author Jessica Lemmon and was originally published as a novella in November 2013. It's been revised and includes new scenes, making it a full-length novel. I never got to read the story in its original form so I can't really tell you what's been changed, retained, or added. My review is based solely on this second edition and from what I finished reading, this is a sweet and steamy romance that has an enemies to lovers feel and was entertaining from start to finish.

Lily McIntire and Marcus Black have been working together at an architectural firm for a couple of years and always seem to be egging each other on. When Marcus dares Lily to spend the night in an abandoned mansion rumored to be haunted by the spirit of a woman who committed suicide, Lily wants to win badly, if only to have one up on Marcus and to get her hands on a trip to Hawaii. Marcus, however, has other plans, because, not only does he want her as his date for an awards night, he wants her for much longer.

This was a fun and flirty romance between Lily and Marcus and the two certainly got the sexual chemistry and tension down to a science. But it isn't just about sex with these two. There are sweet and cute moments that they share and it's obvious that their feelings for one another isn't limited to mere lust. The banter reminds me of old movies that I love the watch that starred Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. there was wit and humor and just enough drama to leave me sighing in satisfaction by the time I got to the end.

I've never had the pleasure of reading any of Jessica Lemmon's other previous works before but with this novel now under my belt, I've grown curious about checking out her other stuff and quick search has shown me there are quite a number for me to sink my teeth into. For you guys out there looking for something easygoing to read and get your romance fix, may I suggest you check out If You Dare by Jessica Lemmon. This checked off almost everything I try to look for in a contemporary romance. 4.5 stars! ♥

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
