Review: Keep It Classy by Lani Lynn Vale (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #7)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR.

If there's one thing I've learned in the number of months since I picked up my first Lani Lynn Vale book--which was coincidentally the first in her Bear Bottom Guardians MC series--it's that I'm going to be entertained for the two or so hours that it takes me to read Vale's stories. Keep It Classy is lucky number seven in the series, and it's definitely one of my top favorites, which is difficult enough to whittle down since this series is amazingly addictive. Here, we get the story of Castiel Hendrix, an officer with the Bear Bottom Police Department and a member of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC, and Turner Hooch, daughter of a NASCAR living legend and a part-time stylist for the local funeral home and a part-time caption writer for pornographic films. Castiel and Turner share a mutual dislike for one another, but that doesn't mean that neither one isn't attracted to the other. These two are experts at pushing each other's buttons, but somehow, they're drawn to one another in a way they've never been with anyone else. But with Castiel's trust issues and Turner's insecurities, will they be able to find a way to take their chance on love?

I adored both Turner and Castiel, although if I'm being perfectly honest, it took me awhile to not think of Tom Hanks and his four-legged furry friend from the movie Turner and Hooch. Castiel's name was familiar because one of my dearest friends happens to be a Supernatural fangirl, but I've never seen the show. Shhh! No judging! Anyway, these two weren't exactly fond of each other, but I loved seeing them cross that thin line between love and hate, although love didn't come along right away for them. No, these guys needed to develop tolerance and patience and a whole lot of trust before they actually fell in love, so it wasn't as if getting there was inevitable. I liked that these two had to work at it, but that they didn't waste a whole lot of time waffling about their choice to be with each other either. I was THIS close to give this book a five-star rating, but I decided to pull it back because of the whole mystery element. The bad guy was ALWAYS there and the fact that a police officer like Castiel didn't put two and two together had me shaking my head at him. Still, I seriously loved Keep It Classy and give it 4.5 stars. ♥
