Review: One Chance, Fancy by Lani Lynn Vale (Bear Bottom Guardians MC #5)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via InkSlinger PR.

I may or may not have already said this in my past reviews for books in Lani Lynn Vale’s Bear Bottom Guardians MC series, but either way, it bears repeating: This series is frickin’ addictive! Every book I’ve read so far in this series has left me smiling, and that includes the most recent release, One Chance, Fancy, which also happens to be the fifth novel. This time around, we’ve got the motorcycle club’s very own president finding love—and an extra bit of something more!—with a feisty nurse who doesn’t back down.

From the moment Phoebe Mackenzie met Benson Beauregard, her life was changed forever. She may have only been fifteen at the time, but there was something about the older boy and his quiet ways that called to her. She saw more than his Asperger’s, and in the year after that initial fateful meeting, she noticed a change in him. Over the next decade or so, their lives led them in different directions, but then Fate decided to bring together the girl he called Fancy and the guy everyone called Bayou once and for all.

I loved how this story had a different feel to it from the others but still maintained that Bear Bottom Guardians MC feel that all that books share. That may sound weird, I know, but I love when a series has a particular feel to it but still has stories that can stand independently from one another. Bayou and Phoebe are characters that have made their presence felt in the earlier books and there was always that connection between them, so that when they finally get together, the anticipation is at an all-time high.

The copy that I read was an advanced review copy, so I’m not entirely sure if the hiccups I saw—namely, the part where there was a sudden change in the point-of-view and another one where Phoebe became Pru, who happens to be her sister. But setting those aside, I enjoyed the Bayou and Phoebe’s story and how Bayou overcame whatever challenges were set before and how Phoebe saw the boy and then the man and not his diagnosis. Overall, One Chance, Fancy was everything I could have hope for. 4.5 stars! ♥
