Review: The Hookup by Kindle Alexander

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Enticing Journey Book Promotions.

Kindle Alexander is back, and this time around, we've got ourselves a novella with a bit of a twist to it! Originally released as part of The Bookworm Box's Unconditional Anthology charity box which was exclusively available during the first fifteen days of September in 2019, The Hookup has been published as a solo release and is available to read for free for anyone with a Kindle Unlimited subscription (Hat tip: If you don't have one, you can get thirty day free via a trial run.). This is a pretty quick read (think thirty minutes, but that may depend on what your reading speed may be) with heat and heart.

Grant Shaw receives an invitation that leads to him donning his old Service Dress White from his time in the Navy and sitting at the bar at one of his old haunts, The Hookup Brewpub. When a hot guy parks himself beside him, Grant is immediately drawn to the well-put-together man. Easton Elliott as at The Hookup to celebrate winning an important case, but he certainly doesn't mind the distraction that comes in the form of the good-looking navyman at the bar. An invitation, a celebration, and a hookup all in one night.

This was a fun read with a whole lot of heat, a fair amount of heart, and a tiny bit of angst. Grant had a piece of my heart from the moment he sat in his vehicle waffling about going in or not in his Service Dress White which may or may not have been a tad snug. There was this thing about him that made him come off as dealing with an insecurity or two. On the other hand, Easton was all confidence, and liked how he complemented Grant so well. Admittedly, it took me a wee bit longer than usual to catch on, but I was just too smitten with these two and their story for me to be bothered that I was slow on the uptake this time around. The Hookup was a short but entertaining novella. Four stars.

Date Read: 11 October 2020
