Review: Blacklisted by Jay Crownover (Loveless, Texas #3)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by Forever.

Jay Crownover closes out her Loveless, Texas series with quite possibly the best in the lot. Blacklisted is the third and final book, and yes, it stands well enough on its own that it isn't absolutely necessary to read the prequel novella and the first two full-length novels. However, I hope you're like me and you, too, have a thing for reading books in a series in order, and trust me, these other Loveless, Texas titles--Unbroken, Justified, and Unforgiven--are well worth the time you'll put into reading the entire series. There's a reason why Crownover is one of my go-to authors, and she has yet to disappoint, whether it's a traditionally published book like Blacklisted or any of her independently published ones.

Blacklisted is a story about two people who do not seem to have all that much in common. Presley Baskin is Loveless's very own medical examiner, and she's preferred a more quiet life. Chaos, however, seems to have come her way, through the Lawton family, and things certainly become more...interesting...when Presley's skills are needed to help patch up the president of the town's motorcycle club, Palmer "Shot" Caldwell. When a stalker sets his sights on Presley, could Loveless's bad boy biker turn out to become good doctor's savior?

I've been waiting what feels like forever to get my hands on Presley and Shot's story, and now, I can't believe all things Loveless is over! Gah! These two have been notable supporting characters, but from the periphery, they're now the center of attention, and goodness, but how they've embraced that spotlight. Jay Crownover has taken a well-worn romantic trope and made it into this beautifully enticing love story that highlights that in spite of what makes us different, love is the great equalizer. With elements of romance and suspense, Blacklisted is the five-starred series ender that Loveless, Texas so deserves.
