Review: Shadows of You by J. Kenner (Stark Security #1.5)
If any author can pack one hell of a hot read on less than twenty pages, it would be J. Kenner. Shadows of You is a prequel short story that gives readers a glimpse of the next two main characters in the author's Stark Security series. If anyone knows what it means to go undercover, it would be Denise Marshall. After years of being a government operative, she switched to the private sector and is now part of Stark Security, headed by Ryan Hunter and overseen by none other than Damian Stark. So, when her husband, Mason Walker, goes deep undercover, Denny knew what it would entail. She didn't, however, expect to not hear from him for two years, leaving her desperate from any sign of him. Her bosses' wives hope a massage will do her some good, but maybe it's the very special masseur who will make it even better. His voice is all-too familiar, but a blindfold may leave Denny guessing.
Consider me extremely interested in what lays ahead for Denny and Mason! In a matter of several pages, the chemistry and connection between this married couple was more than obvious. The love and lust as well as all the longing was on full display, and coupled with the blurb for the second full-length novel in the series, which will, of course, be headlined by these two, I have this need to know how everything will work out for them. As a side note, can I just say that I love how the Stark book universe has grown over the years, and how Damian Stark has really grown and made those who work for him part of the family that continues to multiply? I seriously want more of the Stark Security series in general and more of Denny and Mason in particular. I'm giving Shadow of You 4.5 stars. ♥
