Review: Order Up by Wendy Qualls (Bold Brew #5)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Order Up by Wendy Qualls is the fifth release in the multi-authored Bold Brew series, and it serves as my introduction to Qualls's writing since she's a new-to-me author. This is Blake Hilliard and Graham Alderson's story. Blake works at Bold Brew as the manager and is known for his ability to create the perfect caffeine concoction for customers. When his best friend, DJ, has to head to Florida to take care of his ailing mother, Blake is left without a partner for his livestream. A solution comes in the form of the guy Blake mistakenly thought was DJ. Graham may not be DJ's twin but he came close enough that Blake's viewers may not immediately notice the difference. But will the very private and attractive nurse agree to a one-time guest appearance when he realizes that Blake's livestream is of the naughty--and rather kinky!--variety?

This book was a great standalone addition to the Bold Brew series, as well as my first foray into Wendy Qualls's writing style. I liked that the main characters, Blake and Graham, didn't have a whole lot of baggage that they were toting around. Yes, there's a bit of a misunderstanding that happens, but it wasn't some overly convoluted drama that led to even more melodrama. There was an ease in their relationship that allowed me to simply sit back and enjoy the story that they had to share. There was a lot of heat and some engaging conversation and moments between Blake and Graham. Yes, it felt a tiny bit like an insta-romance, but the connection they had going on made it quite believable. I'm giving Order Up four stars out of five stars.
