Review: Vanilla Steamer by Crystal Lacy (Bold Brew #4)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

We're on to book four in the multi-authored Bold Brew series, and this time around, Crystal Lacy is the author of the moment. Lacy's contribution to the series is Vanilla Steamer, and it features Vann Gelens and Landon Ridge. The former is a barista in his mid-twenties at Bold Brew, a coffee shop known to be kink-friendly; the latter is an emergency room doctor in his mid-thirties. Vann knows who the regulars of Bold Brew are, and the moment Landon comes in, it's clear that the guy's new to the establishment and to kink. In short, he's as vanilla as it gets. But something about the older and far more quiet man has Vann eagerly pushing his buttons every time he comes by. Maybe, just maybe, Landon isn't all that vanilla, and Vann doesn't mind teaching him a thing or two.

I've always enjoyed Crystal Lacy's writing, and she's once again given readers like me a story that held my attention and interest from start to finish. Vann and Landon were a study in contrasts, but Vann helped stoke a fire of sorts, one that was lit and smoldered the more frequent Landon's visits to Bold Brew were. I appreciated that Vann didn't shove kink down Landon's throat, instead going the route of stirring the older man's curiosity and maybe prodding him along as he helped Landon discover his kinky side. I liked the chemistry the two had, and it was clear that they had the sort of connection that could develop into more. Vanilla Steamer was yet another strong addition to the Bold Brew series, and I'm certainly looking forward to the rest of the books to come. Four stars.
