Review: Welcome Home for Christmas by Annie Rains (A Hero's Welcome #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchange for an honest review.

Welcome Home for Christmas is the fourth book in the A Hero's Welcome small town slash military romance series from bestselling author Annie Rains and it's a fake-to-real romance between Allison Carmichael and Troy Matthews. After the end to yet another relationship--one that her psychologist mother predicted would happen--Allison is more than okay with being commitment-free for the foreseeable future and focus all her energy on the veteran's center she's in charge of. Unfortunately, her mother seems to expect her to have a boyfriend in tow, but where is she supposed to find an impromptu boyfriend in such short notice? Enter an auction where the prizes are military men who can give a few hours of their time to help spouses of deployed personnel with anything they may need. Allison may not be a military wife but this could be the solution to her problems, and when Sergeant Troy Matthews appears to be amenable to her plan, all should go off without a hitch. That is, of course, until they spend more time together and what was supposed to be a fake relationship begins to make them wish for the real thing.

I've enjoyed the A Hero's Welcome from the moment I first envisioned the town of Seaside in my head. Though both Troy and Allison aren't part of the original trio of friends--who all paired up and found their own happily-ever-afters in the first three books, Welcome to Forever, Welcome Home, Cowboy, and Welcoming the Bad Boy--this was a sweet addition to the series, especially as a holiday story. I'm not entirely sure if this is the final book in the series since I'm still hoping Beth Phillips will still get her own shot at a happy ending, but Troy and Allison's story was a good read. Neither of the two was in the market for a relationship, but as expected, their hearts get stolen when they least expect it...by each other. I liked the side stories involving their respective family dramas as well as the case of the neighborhood thief roaming around, though it was pretty easy to figure out who the perpetrator was. I liked the lighthearted nature of this fourth in a series, especially it being a holiday romance (because who really wants angst during the holidays?!). As always, Annie Rains satisfies with Welcome Home for Christmas. Four stars! ♥
