Review: Thanks for Last Night by Lauren Blakely (The Guys Who Got Away #4)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

My heart's being held for by Ransom North! Okay, the men in Lauren Blakely's The Guys Who Got Away series are seriously ah-mazing, but then that's usually the case when it comes to this author's male main characters. Whatever I may have thought of Ransom was blown to smithereens because he was SO much more than I already expected him to be from the bits and pieces I saw of him in the previous books. If you read A Guy Walks into My Bar, then you'll know that Ransom is paired up with Teagan King, who just happens to be the queen of comebacks. Their romance is sweet and sexy and loads of fun. Oh, and did I forget to mention that there may or may not be a wee bit of a bonus story?!

Thanks for Last Night finds Ransom North, star forward for New York's professional hockey team, and Teagan King, social media specialist for popular website The Dating Pool, relishing the close-knit friendships they have with all the mutual friends they share. Both Ransom and Teagan are committed single people, neither one of them interested in being in a relationship, not after their respective previous ones ended so badly. With all their closest friends finding love and entering couplehood, some with (wedding) bell(s) tolling for them, Ransom and Teagan are getting nudges and hints from all who think they'd be perfect together. Who knows what'll happen when she bids on him for a date?

Sometimes, we all need an angst-free read. Yes, I'm a self-confessed angst addict, and yes, I have said countless times that even a hint of angst in romantic comedies is a near necessity for me. Well, there are always those rare exceptions to almost any rule, and Lauren Blakely's rom-coms are one of those very exceptions. That's not to say that her rom-coms don't have any angst at all since some actually do have a pinch of angst in them. However, in the case of Ransom and Teagan's story, well, there was none to be found, and I wasn't even looking because I loved what I had in my hands regardless! I was smitten by these two and their story, as well as that bonus romance, and the chapters told from the viewpoints of a few other people. I always look forward to seeing who, besides the main characters, is going to speak up. Five stars go to Thanks for Last Night.
