Review: Tell Me You Want Me by Joya Ryan (Search and Seduce #2)
Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Tell Me You Want Me is the second book in the Search and Seduce series from author Joya Ryan and is the story of Michelle Ruby, a boutique owner, and Dexter Young, a member of the Search and Rescue team, and both living in Beaufort, North Carolina and both introduced in the first book, Tell Me You Need Me. Michelle is a former New Yorker who wants to prove to her parents and ex-fiancé that she can be the independent woman that they think she's incapable of ever being. She's survived the past few months on her own, starting her own business, and now she's ready to learn even more survival skills, these for the actual wilderness. But Dex takes one look at her and pegs her as another privileged woman who couldn't save herself from the elements if she tried. Thus, begins the survival of the fittest...and dirtiest fantasies.
I loved the series starter, so my expectations for this second in the series were pretty high. The story was okay and both Michelle and Dex were an engaging couple to read about and the chemistry was certainly there. I just felt that it was lacking in terms of that extra something that makes you believe that this is so much than physical and that they're in it for the long haul and will last. Dex makes his assumptions based on personal experience, but then I think he gets into those relationships with those kinds of women in order to keep perpetuating the prejudices in his head, which is kind of sad. Michelle, on the other hand, was someone who wanted to break free from her old life and be able to stand on her own two feet, so kudos to her. All in all, Tell Me You Want Me was an okay read that left me slightly disappointed. 3.5 stars. ♥
