Review: Last Chance by Lindsay McKenna (Delos #0.5)
Note: This ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
It's been five years since Lia Cassidy survived an attack by two of her fellow soldiers and while she may never be rid of the physical scars marring her face and body, she's been moving forward with her life with the Delos Home School Charities' location in Costa Rica. Soon, she finds her life in danger when a drug lord she's crossed goes after her. Now, she must outrun his men and prove yet again that she's a survivor.
Last Chance is a prequel novella that introduces readers to bestselling author Lindsay McKenna's latest romantic suspense series entitled Delos. This is a very quick read and is a free download so if you're a fan of the author's work or happen to enjoy this type of genre, you have absolutely nothing to lose by checking this out. Of course, the fact that it's actually a well-written novella makes it a worthwhile series starter too.
Lia Cassidy is the epitome of a survivor, having lived through a harrowing attack by men she was thought she could trust and now trying to get away from a drug lord's henchmen. Her bravery and will to live is inspiring. She's the lead female character of the first full-length novel in the series, Nowhere to Hide, and her male counterpart, ex-SEAL and private security contractor Cav Jordan, is also briefly introduced here.
This novella is actually my very first Lindsay McKenna read, though her name is highly recognizable and I'm familiar with her reputation especially when it comes to romantic suspense novels. I quite liked how she was able to heighten the suspense for an episode that occurred over a short span of time and now I'm curious as to what happens next with Lia and Cav in Nowhere to Hide. I'm giving Last Chance four stars. ♥
Date Read: 09 October 2015
