Authors Spotlight: Ann Marie Walker & Amy K. Rogers, Reclaim Me

I've been a fan of the Chasing Fire trilogy from the time I first met main characters Hudson Chase and Alessandra Sinclair in Remind Me. I couldn't get enough of them in the sequel, Release Me, and I anticipated every move these two made with the third and final release, Reclaim Me. So, I'm quite thrilled to have been given the privilege to interview the two talented women that brought us the David Gandy-inspired Hudson Chase and the only girl he's ever loved, Allie Sinclair. Get to know Ann Marie Walker and Amy K. Rogers a bit more as they answer my questions.

Enjoy!

A Q&A with Ann Marie Walker & Amy K. Rogers
1. What inspired you to come up with the Chasing Fire series?

Our initial inspiration came from Jane Austen’s Persuasion. From there we started brainstorming over skype (there may have been lemon drop martinis involved as well) and before too long we had created Hudson Chase.

2. How does it feel that Allie and Hudson’s love story has finally come to an end?

It’s bittersweet really. While we were definitely sad to type “The End” we are open to the idea of seeing more from these two or maybe even Harper and Nick.

3. Who would you cast in the roles of Allie and Hudson if the books were made into a movie and why?

When writing the Chasing Fire series, we envisioned British supermodel David Gandy as Hudson Chase. We don't really have anyone in mind for Allie but several readers have suggested Blake Lively.

4. Will you be doing a One Direction and take a hiatus to pursue individual projects or will we, your fans, continue to enjoy future collaborations from both of you?

We both have interest in pursuing individual projects, but also plan to continue our partnership on future collaborations.

5. If you could spend the day in each other’s shoes, what’s the one thing you want to experience and why?

Amy: We both have challenges in different areas and at the center of it is time. We both juggle various things in our lives. What I would like is to be able to have the flexibility to make my own schedule.

Ann Marie: I want to experience Amy’s shoes. Literally. I’m not joking when I say she brought an entire suitcase of shoes with her to the RT Convention last year!

6. What would a dream date with David Gandy be like for each of you?

Amy: I don’t know if I’m allowed to say so I’ll say my second option: to drive a cross country road trip (either US or Europe) with him in a wicked hot car.

Ann Marie: My dream date with David would definitely involve dogs. His smile when in the company of canines is unparalleled. Other than that I have no specific requests other than to go somewhere quiet…don’t want to miss a word of that dreamy accent!

7. What words of advice would you give aspiring writers?

This may sound cliche, but don’t stop writing and don’t give up on your dreams no matter how big or small. Write the stories you want to tell and don’t pay attention to the naysayers. Steve Jobs has one of the best quotes that can apply to any profession:

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma--which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
