Review: Between Now and Forever by Dylan Allen (Forever #1)

Our eyes meet...and a stream of memories rife with love, pain, loss, fear, bliss, hope, and longing rush between us in a matter of seconds.
We went to hell and back, and for this perfect moment, I'd do it again a thousand times.

Damn it! Take my heart already, why don't you, Dylan Allen?! Between Now and Forever is the first novel in the Forever trilogy, and while I did read the blurb for this when I'd first heard about its pending publication a couple of months ago, by the time I started reading it, I'd forgotten the blurb. So basically, I went into the actual novel blind, and from the moment I come across the main characters in the prologue, I was sucked in. My curiosity got the better of me because of how the author chose to start this love story, and I feel that it's important for me to point out. This isn't just a romance; this is a love story between two people who not only find love but must fight for it--for each other. From the get-go, my attention was ensnared, and by the end of this book, my heart was entangled.

This is the story of Elisabeth Wells and Carter Bosh. When they first meet, she's twenty and he's twenty-two. Under normal circumstances, Beth's and Carter's paths weren't the kind that would have ever crossed, but fate had other plans for these two. Falling for each other was easy, but staying together...well, that didn't seem to be something that was meant to be. After all, there are consequences when rules and promises are broken. Both Beth and Carter are searching for things that may very well be beyond their reach, but will it be worth the heartbreak?

Prior to reading this series starter, I'd just read two other Dylan Allen novels--The Legacy and The Legend--and while I liked those, this new tale that's only beginning to unravel a book at a time is of a completely different level. It felt as if I was on an emotional roller coaster, but instead of wanting to get off at the end, I simply needed to remain strapped in for yet another go-around, i.e. I'm going to be needing the second book as soon as humanly possible. Allen clearly has a saga on her hands, but it isn't just about the love story between Beth and Carter. Between Now and Forever is about family, loss, and fighting for love and the truth, and I'm giving it five-plus stars. ♥
