Review: Secrets of an Alpha Male by J.D. Hawkins

Note: This ARC was provided by Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest review.

An MMA fighter and a yoga teacher--one feeds off the intensity of preparation for battle while the other breathes in the serenity and rejuvenation brought by meditation. You would think that these two wouldn't make much sense as a couple but Connor "the Alpha Male" Anderson and Frances "Frankie" Jones make a connection, one that allows Connor to tap into a part of himself that could make him, not just a better fighter, but a better man, and Frankie to see beyond her initial impressions of Connor. He's heading into the most important fight of his life and she needs to figure out a way to keep her yoga studio afloat, but when they unexpectedly find and fall for each other, they realize that they've got something special. Will they, however, survive the machinations and manipulations of those eager to end their romance, and prove this alpha male and alpha female belong together?

Secrets of an Alpha Male is a standalone romance and my very first J.D. Hawkins. I get why the author has the following that he does, because it's obvious he knows how to create an alpha male main character and make him more than an overbearing, overly controlling dominant figure in and out of the bedroom. There's no denying that Connor Anderson is an alpha male, but the guy's got a sensitive and intellectual side to him--though the use of "ain't" instead of "aren't" or "isn't" did kinda make me wonder what was up--and shocker of all shockers, a romantic side as well. I loved how independent Frankie was and how she wanted to achieve success on her own merits, but she was undoubtedly stubborn at times as well. This two were a great couple and they had a good group of supporting characters to bolster this romance even further. I'm giving Secrets of an Alpha Male four stars. ♥
