Review: Take by K.I. Lynn & N. Isabelle Blanco (Need #2)

Take is the sequel to Need, both novels belonging to the Need series penned by the bestselling writing duo K.I. Lynn and N. Isabelle Blanco. I've been itching to read this book ever since I finished reading the turbulent and taboo love-hate story of step-siblings Kira Roth and Brayden Hunt. She may now be eighteen but twenty-one-year-old Brayden knows all too well that being in love with your stepsister will never be seen as a good thing by their parents, especially his father and her mother. But Brayden is, indeed, in love with Kira and has been for years. Unfortunately, his less than stellar behavior has hurt her one time too many and Kira's had it. He wants nothing more than to be able to show the world just how much his girl means to him, but maybe all he needs to do is to she one girl--Kira--exactly that. But will doing so bring unwanted attention to them and have more people speculate? After all has been said and done, will Kira choose Brayden, or will she end up choosing someone else and do to her step-brother what he's done to her every single time he was with some other girl--break his heart?

Gah! These two were so damn frustrating and yet equally damn addictive. I totally get where they were both coming from. Brayden wanted to make his claim on Kira and make up for all the crappy stuff he had done in the past; Kira can't reconcile her feelings for Brayden, not when she loves him so desperately but also hates him with a passion. Too much has been said and done, but at the same time, not enough. Labeling their relationship as "complicated" would be an understatement, and there are more players involved than just the two of them. There's a lot that these two have to contend with, and add to that the fact that Kira is just eighteen and Brayden is twenty-one, and you've got these two acting without thinking time and again. Is Brayden a "good guy"? Far from it and there's really no excusing what he's done in the past and how thoughtless he's been when it comes to Kira, but I can see that he wants the chance to prove to her that she's it for him. The thing is, Kira's past the point of trying to understand him and appears to simply be...done. Damn it! I so need to read Own now! Argh! Five stars for Take. ♥
