Review: Silver Lining by Skye Warren (Diamond #3)

The minute this book landed in my tablet, I devoured it. Everything else could wait, including stuff that was already on my schedule. Silver Lining is one of my most anticipated reads for December, and for good reason. Skye Warren gave the first two North brothers, Liam and Joshua, their respective happily-ever-afters with the women in their lives in the North Security trilogy and its spin-off, Audition. Naturally, getting to those HEAs was no walk in the park for either of them, so am I really surprised that the remaining single North brother was going to face complications as well? Nope, but goodness, Elijah North was put through the wringer several times over to get his happy ending with his true love, Holly Frank, who didn't exactly have it easy on her end either.

I'm purposely being evasive when it comes to the details of the story because hello, spoilers and all that jazz. What I will say is that because this book is the third in a series and it does have a continuing story line involving one specific couple, Elijah and Holly, the Diamond series MUST be read in order: Diamond in the Rough, Gold Mine, and Silver Lining. The main characters go through a great deal, and sometimes, I found myself wondering if it was going to be worth it for either of them. But once again, Skye Warren highlights that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and these two, even when it seemed like the odds were against them persevered and fought for their future together. While not necessarily an easy read, as is often the case when it comes to dark romance, Warren's fantastic storytelling makes it all worthwhile. I'm giving Silver Lining five stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
