Review: Hooked by Elizabeth Hunter (Love Stories on 7th and Main #2)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Social Butterfly PR.

Hooked is the second novel in Elizabeth Hunter's Love Stories on 7th and Main contemporary romance series. While the main characters here were introduced in the first book, Ink, and there are recurring characters as well, this can pretty much be read as a standalone. Here we have the story of the big city girl and the small town guy, and how two seemingly opposite individuals can find middle ground AND love in the Californian town of Metlin.

When Tayla McKinnon moved to Metlin, it was always meant to be temporary. She was there to help her best friend get her bookstore up and running. A town that small didn't seem ideal for a fashion blogger like her, but in the year since, she's had fun. She isn't the type to settle down, especially not with a guy like outdoorsman and comic book aficionado Jeremy Allen, who is most certainly NOT her type, no matter how gorgeous Jeremy may be.

Jeremy Allen has known from the moment he met Tayla McKinnon that they had chemistry. She could deny it all she wants, but Jeremy was willing to take his time and win over the woman who's snagged his attention. When she receives an opportunity to work with a fashion start-up, he's happy for her, but it would mean her moving back to San Francisco. He thinks he's already got Tayla hooked on him, but can Jeremy get her hooked on staying in Metlin?

I wasn't keen on Tayla in the first few chapters of the book, but she did win me over, and I ultimately did love her with Jeremy, who was a really great guy. Just like in Ink, though, there was a tendency for the story to feel as if it was meandering along rather than keep a consistent enough pace throughout. The town of Metlin remains the biggest star of this series, and I'm curious to see what awaits us in the third book, Grit. I'm giving Hooked 3.5 stars. ♥
