Review: Switch Bidder by Sara Ney (Jock Hard #2.5)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Originally released back in March as part of the Read Me Romance podcast (side note: Whether you love romance in general or romance audiobooks in particular, I highly recommend you check this podcast out. I've yet to post a review about the episodes I've read, but the ones that I have been able to listen have been fabulous listens.), where it was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Jason Clarke, Sara Ney releases Switch Bidder in eBook format. This quick read is novella in length and a part of her Jock Hard series, although it reads well as a standalone, so if you've yet to read the prequel story or either of the full-length novels, you can jump straight into this latest in the series.

Piper Davenport has been crushing on Ryder Williams for four years, but she has no intention of doing anything about it. They shared one class together freshman year, but she guarantees he has no idea who she is nor has he ever looked her way. But while Piper is good with remaining anonymous, her best friend has other plans. A couple of hundred dollars later, and Piper's the proud winning bidder of one hot athlete, aka her crush, Ryder, but Piper's not exactly jumping for joy over her bestie's "gift". Not contacting him will be for the best, and he probably won't even notice. Except Ryder DOES notice Piper hasn't contacted him, and that's not the only thing this jock's noticed.

This was short but sweet and with a whole lot of sexy closer to the end of the book. I liked Piper and Ryder together. Because the book is shorter in length, readers don't really get to delve into the nitty-gritty of either of the main characters, but what we do get is a novella that has an interesting couple and an engaging story. Piper and Ryder have parts of themselves that were pleasantly surprising, and while the ending isn't necessarily a happily-ever-after, it was a happy-for-now that left me pleasantly happy and hopeful for these two. Piper's best friend, Mallory, was a hoot and I certainly wouldn't mind reading more about her in the future. 4.5 stars for Switch Bidder. ♥
