Review: Liner Notes by A.M. Madden

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Give Me Books Promotions.

Liner Notes may be a spin-off of A.M. Madden's Back-Up series, but it can be read as a standalone, and I'm confident enough to say that because I haven't read the aforementioned series and still enjoyed this new release from the author. Lori Banzini is an agent and she knows true talent when she sees and hears it, and there's no denying just how talented Cannon Davis is. He also happens to look every bit the rock star that she believes he can be, but there's no way that Lori intends to act on her attraction to him, no matter how tempting or how reciprocated it may be. Not only does she refuse to cross the line between professional and personal, but she's also older than he is. But Cannon knows what he wants, and while he may be serious about wanting the sort of music career that he's always dreamed of, he also wants a future with Lori, no matter how much she tries to resist.

As always, A.M. Madden knows how to write romance with genuine feels, and goodness, but how those feels were on full display in this novel. I've read a few of this author's books, but this is, hands down, my favorite read from her, and she had me loving the fiery Lori and the wonderful Cannon and cheering for these two to get their acts together. Prepare for something cheesy: I wanted these two to make beautiful music together. Cheesy, right, but super appropriate for these two, and while their romance has its ups and downs, I was just glad to have a ringside seat. Madden's writing is smooth and the story itself may have been a slow burn but the pacing wasn't mind-numbingly slow. While this book does work as a standalone, my curiosity now has me adding the Back-Up series to my to-be-read list, with fingers crossed those books are as fantastic as this one. I'm awarding Liner Notes five stars. ♥
