Review: The Booty by Willa Nash (Calamity, Montana #2.5)
The Booty is a free short story Willa Nash (aka Devney Perry) made available to her newsletter subscribers in December of last year. I'm only writing review today because, well, it was the holidays and real life took precedence, and while I still read a whole lot, I didn't post reviews on every single thing I'd read. Anyway, this quickie is part of the author's Calamity, Montana series but can be read as a complete standalone. Here we've got Lola Jennings, a public interest lawyer from Portland who is in Calamity Falls, Montana to offer support to her best friend who is in the middle of getting a divorce. The second-to-the-last thing she expects is a Valentine's Day hookup with the winner of the Wrangler Butt Contest. The last thing she expects? To come face-to-face with him sitting right beside her bestie's husband. The guy with the oh-so-hot booty is Aiden Archer: Divorce Lawyer.
This was a fun read, one that packed humor, heart, and heat in a handful of pages--well, a handful compared to a full-length read. I was very much entertained by the banter between the main characters, Lola and Aiden. They were equally feisty and flirty, and I was all for it. The fact that they were lawyers who had a romantic streak to them made them even more appealing! Seriously, these two had me grinning a little too hard, to the point that my cheeks were all achy. The back and forth they had going on made it abundantly clear that things would never get boring between them. I also appreciated that there weren't any declarations of love made, but that it was made clear that they both recognized what was happening with them was something extraordinary and deserved to be committed to. Short, sweet, and sexy, The Booty wholly satisfies. Five stars.
