Review: Fashion Jungle by Kathy Ireland & Rachel Van Dyken

Fashion Jungle is a new women's fiction novel with hints of romance and mystery to it that's co-written by supermodel turned successful entrepreneur Kathy Ireland and bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken. At fourteen, Brittany, Zoe, Everlee, and Danica had dreams of taking the world of fashion by storm, one catwalk and photo shoot at a time. In the twenty years since, they've experienced success and paid the price for it. From the original foursome, there are only three of them left. All of them had and have secrets, but it could be those from beyond the grave that could change the landscape of the fashion industry. If you thought that striking a pose, developing a sleek walk, and having a patented look while donning the latest in fashion was easy peasy, you have another thing coming. It's a jungle out there, where survival is reserved for only the fiercest. Just ask Brittany, Zoe, and Everlee.
If anyone knows the ins and outs of the fashion and modeling industry firsthand, it's Kathy Ireland, and it's clear that her insight is what helps give this novel an authenticity to it that others before it lack, and with Rachel Van Dyken as a writing partner, the development of both the story and characters was paced rather well. As always when it comes to books that involve more than one author, I'm curious to see if I'm able to tell where one stops and the other begins, but there was a seamless feel to this book, so kudos to Van Dyken and Ireland for that. The story itself was a very interesting one, and having read books and watched movies of a biographical or autobiographical nature involving fashion insiders, I already had an inkling to just how vicious that particular world could be. Van Dyken and Ireland worked quite well together on Fashion Jungle and the result is a four-starred read. ♥
