Review: Ripple Effect: Episode 4 by Keri Lake (Ripple Effect #4)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Ardent PRose in exchange for an honest review.

Gah! I can't believe it's over. The Ripple Effect serial is one of my top favorites ever, and with the fourth and final installment, everything that had to do with Ripley and Dylan came to a head. Their feelings for one another have been brewing even before they ended up becoming each other's prisoner--Dylan agreeing to be with Rip for a certain period of time in order for her to receive a lump sum and Rip imprisoned by his confusion as to what to do with the girl who was beginning to get to him in ways others never have before. But Rip has been trained to do kill, to separate whatever emotions he may still have lingering deep within him and not let that affect his judgment. He knows he can't keep Dylan, but he also refuses to let her go. Keeping her comes with consequences, but sending her away may break him. Is there hope for Ripley and Dylan to survive it all or will their pasts leave them for dead?

After that cliffhanger of an ending in the third episode, I knew I needed to find out what was going to happen next for our dastardly but darling (in their own deadly way) duo. Tensions were much higher in this finale and this proved to be a far more emotional read than any of the three episodes prior. Dylan and Rip are more emotionally invested than ever--and they were already rather heavily invested for two strangers from the get-go--and it was clear that these two had gone beyond the whole captor and captive setup. They were, instead, captivated with each other. Too cheesy? Maybe, but that's how they were and that's how I was with them. I couldn't get enough of these two, and I'm glad I set aside my aversion for serials for Ripple Effect. Even though Rip and Dylan's story is over, there are supporting characters I wouldn't mind getting to know better. Hint, hint. Five stars for episode four. ♥
