Review: Come Hell or High Water by Britney King (Water #3)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

You've never looked more beautiful. I want to be angry with myself just a little for thinking as much; I want to be mad at myself for loving you, but in the end, I'm only human. Plus, of all the people on this planet, you seem like one who could use love the most. It wasn't supposed to be this way, I wasn't supposed to stick around.

Well. That was just... Wow. Just when you think the Water trilogy could get any better, Britney King just couldn't help herself and threw me for a loop with the direction the third and final novel went in. Come Hell or High Water is the culmination of the curious and, at times, crazed roller coaster ride, with me wondering at times who really is in the driver's seat: Jude or Kate. That's pretty much answered here in book three, and to be perfectly honest, I wasn't all that surprised with who it turned out to be. Although, still on the whole truth train, there were quite a few times that I wanted to shake some sense into this person and make them see that the choices they were making were going to end up costing them--and I mean everyone in their family--but hey, no point in trying to reason with a killer, right? Those choices, after all, were part of the reason this finale was as suspenseful as it was.

If you haven't read any of the books in the series, well, hello? Where the heck have you been all this time? Water is one of the far more original trilogies I've had the immense privilege of reading. Each book has left me off-kilter and Britney King's writing style was just one of the things that made this such a stand-out series. Since these books were the first that I've read from the author, I have no clue if she employs the same storytelling technique with her past releases, but I'm hoping this was exclusively for Jude and Kate's tale. I'm going to very highly recommend--insist, actually--that you read the books in order because they are all connected. Jude and Kate are among the most unforgettable couples I've come across in all my years of reading and they're one who had a story worth reading. This review is as spoiler-free as it gets. Just go read Come Hell or High Water. It's worth the five-plus stars. ♥
