Review: Her Claim by Rebecca Grace Allen (Legally Bound #2)

Note: This ARC was provided by the author via Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.

It's been more than two and a half years since I read Rebecca Grace Allen's Legally Bound series starter, His Contract, which ended up becoming one of my top reads for 2015. With as an impressive as a beginning to a series, I was very much excited to see what lay in wait for the rest of the cast of characters. Well, Allen's back with the second novel in the series, and it was every bit as scintillating as I expected it to be! Here we've got forty-six-year-old publishing magnate Patrick Dunham and thirty-eight-year-old legal eagle Cassandra Allbright, two Ivy-League-educated and successful people who have no love lost for each other. In short, these two hate one another.

Their best friends may have gone and fallen in love but Patrick and Cassie prefer to trade barbs than niceties. The half-Cuban lawyer is beauty and brains and doesn't roll over for anyone, and the privileged head of a family-owned publishing house pushes her buttons every single chance he gets. But all it takes is one unguarded moment for them to give in to their baser needs. Disparaging looks are replaced by burning ones that make the growing desire clear. They agree to keep things purely physical. Patrick wants to fulfill Cassie's every fantasy, and Cassie makes Patrick feel things he's kept hidden for decades. But there's no way they'd ever fall in love with each other... Right?

Feisty and flirty, Patrick and Cassie made hate sex something that should be on everyone's sexual bucket list. These two were hot and just as bothered by each other. Rebecca Grace Allen has given readers an enemies-to-lovers romance that wasn't afraid to push the envelope. However, this book wasn't merely about sex. Yes, there's quite a bit of it, but Patrick and Cassie are also two multi-layered characters whose back stories I liked diving into. We also get updates on the rest of the Legally Bound characters, with Lilly Sterling and Jack Archer continuing their happily-ever-after and Brady and Samantha Archer leaving me hoping their story is up next soon. Her Claim gets 4.5 stars. ♥
