Review: Boss of Me by Tia Louise
Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Wildfire Marketing Solutions.
Tia Louise has taken two well-loved tropes--military romance plus office romance--and come up with a must-read of a story in her latest release, Boss of Me. With her MBA degree from Vanderbilt completed, Raquel Morgan is the creme of the crop and the top pick to fill a void in Fletcher International, Inc. She's already been forewarned by her sister to be careful of FII's CEO, thirty-three-year-old Patton Fletcher, but Raquel didn't earn her nickname of "Rocky" for nothing. She isn't the type to sit idly by if she's bossed around, and she certainly isn't going to stay silent if she disagrees with her boss. Furthermore, she has no intention whatsoever to fall for Patton no matter how charming the cocky man can be. She'd be absolutely crazy to do something like that and going crazy isn't part of her plans. Falling crazy in love for her boss, though...well...that's a whole different situation altogether. Isn't it?
This book starts off with one heck of an attention grabber, and it certainly lays down the groundwork for what feels like the beginning of an untitled collection of standalones connected by the brotherhood of the four men that are introduced to readers. Patton and Raquel had all the sizzle that I look for when it comes to two people who have the sort of connection that they shared throughout the book. There's a lot of humor that's in the story, but there's also a fair amount of heaviness and angst, what with the experiences that Patton and his three closest friends--Taron Rhodes, Martin Randall, and Sawyer (whose last name I don't recall being mentioned)--went through. I loved that Raquel wasn't some shy violet. She was smart and independent but had a heart of gold and she was exactly who Patton needed in his life. Tia Louise wrote this romance like a boss, which is why Boss of Me garners five stars. ♥
