Review: Off the Air by L.H. Cosway (Running on Air #1)

Ah, L.H. Cosway knows how to tickle my romance-loving fancy while making me hear all a-flutter! Off the Air is the first full-length novel--and second overall release--in Cosway's Running on Air series, which is a spin-off of the sixth book in her Hearts series, Hearts on Air. There are events in both full-length novels that do overlap, and reading one before the air isn't absolutely necessarily, but this is an author whose work I love, so surprise, surprise, I'm seriously suggesting that you check that series ender out as well. What I am going to highly recommend before reading Off the Air is that you read the prequel novella, Air Kiss, first because it lays the foundation of both the freerunning group and the love story of the main characters of book one, Callum Davidson and Leanne Simmons.

Off the Air takes place three years after the events in Air Kiss, and this is where I insert a bit of warning: I may end up mentioning details here that could spoil the prequel novella for you and possibly even Hearts on Air, so proceed reading this review with caution. Callum Davidson and Leanne Simmons are just two of the stars of Running on Air, but the fact that they're exes who haven't quite gotten over one another makes them fodder for media hounds. When the latest fiasco has their producers adding the caveat of not becoming romantically involved in their contracts, it's almost like tempting fate. Callum and Leanne have gone from being enemies to friends to lovers, rinse and repeat, but will they be able to stop themselves from giving in to temptation or risk losing everything?

There's a whole lot of tension--sexual and otherwise--that lingers around Callum and Leanne, and I couldn't help but feel the anticipation whenever these two were in the same space together. Being with each other seemed inevitable but there's quite a bit of baggage that they've got going on, especially when it came to the first time that they broke up. I won't mention what it was that ultimately led them to part ways, but suffice it to say that it's something that continues to haunt them, especially Leanne. A few years older but maybe not necessarily wiser, Callum and Leanne do some much needed growing up and soul searching, and I loved having a ringside seat to the evolution of their relationship. Off the Air easily gets five stars, and I cannot wait for the next Running on Air story! ♥
