Review: More Than Want You by Shayla Black (More Than Words #1)

More Than Want You is the first novel in the brand new series from bestselling author Shayla Black entitled More Than Words. Thirty-three-year-old Maxon Reed is a real estate mogul at the top of his game, and he refuses to be knocked off that perch of his, especially if the one wanting to take him down is his own brother. When a piece of prime property is up for for grabs, Maxon comes up with a plan to ensure that his brother Griff will be too distracted to be on his A-game when the time comes to make their respective pitches to the client. That distraction comes in the form of twenty-five-year-old college senior and amateur singer Keeley Kent. If Maxon can make her into the kind of woman that he knows Griff will go for, then a little bit of flirting and a whole lot of distracting could have Maxon claiming the prize and leave Griff eating his dust. But what if the prize Maxon wants becomes Keeley?

This was hot and intriguing and definitely had me wanting more by the time I finished it. I confess that it took a good long while before I liked Maxon and was an up and down thing even after that. The man was undeniably ambitious, so much so that he was willing to still use the woman he was falling for in order to beat his brother. Keeley, on the other hand, was easy to like. She was quirky, independent, and chose to see the best in people. She helped loosen up the usually buttoned up Maxon, and was a force of nature who happened to be one of my favorite things about the book. Another thing that I would consider a favorite was the twist that I NEVER saw coming. My mouth literally dropped and kudos to Shayla Black because I think it's a great lead-in to the second book in the series, which I'm looking forward to. More Than Want You was one satisfying and sexy read. Four stars. ♥
