Review: I Don't by Ella Fox (Enamorado #1)

I Don't is the first book in bestselling author Ella Fox's new contemporary romance series, Enamorado, which is Spanish for "in love". I'm guessing that the series will feature the Cruz brothers, and book one focuses the spotlight on Mateo Cruz, who is engaged to be married to Avelina Saez. Except Ava has run from him. She's hidden her engagement ring in a dresser drawer and wants nothing to do with the man who claims he would do anything and everything for her. All she wants is that he leave her be, but Mateo love Ava and had given her what he believes is more than enough time to get her head--and her heart--on straight so that they can move forward with their plans to wed. She claims to not want him, but Mateo is ready to make his runaway fiancée see that saying "I Don't" to him is an option he simply cannot allow her. Are these two headed for happily-ever-after or a lifetime of disaster?

If it were possible to mass produce a man like Mateo, I'm sure stock would run out preeetty quickly. This man and his devotion to Ava was so damn swoon-worthy. He's as alpha as you can get, especially when it comes to the woman who owns his heart, but there's a gentleness there as well. I felt bad for him each and every time Ava brushed him aside and insisted she didn't want to be with him, what more engaged to him. Now, there are reasons why Ava is such a bitch towards Mateo, and as the story sheds light on how they fell in love and the discoveries that Ava makes later on, it's easy to see that this wasn't a case of cold feet or her simply having some sort of fit. But Mateo was truly the best part of this book. He was endearing and made me want to keep flipping from one page to the next. I Don't was a pretty good start to this new series. I'd give Mateo five stars and the book 3.5 stars. ♥
