Review: A Moment for Us by Corinne Michaels (Willow Creek Valley #3)

Goodness, but how Corinne Michaels put my heart through the wringer with this third Willow Creek Valley novel of hers! A Moment for Us is a story of perceived unrequited love mixed in with the falling-for-my-best-friend's-sibling trope. Joshua Parkerson, the eldest among the Parkerson siblings at thirty-seven, returns to Willow Creek Valley to join forces with his younger siblings in building their own resort in their hometown. His return is welcomed by most, but it has Delia Andrews on the offensive, declaring that she's over the guy who's owned her heart since she was fifteen. Now thirty-two, Delia has accepted that Josh is never going to see her as anything more than his brother's best friend. However, it seems that he's finally opening himself to exploring their connection, even if he insists they can never be more than temporary. Not when Josh knows that Delia deserves someone better; experience has taught him that that someone is not him.

Josh and Delia's book had all the feels, but then I've come to expect that when Corinne Michaels is the genius behind the writing. This was sweet and sexy, with lighthearted moments between the main characters as well as Josh with his siblings plus but it's also punctuated with some intense, heartrending experiences that these two go through on their way to their happily-ever-after. Saying that their HEA was hard-earned would be an understatement. I liked seeing the growth that Josh went through, particularly because of the emotional trauma that was holding him back from believing that he was someone worthy of a beautiful life with the woman he loved. This was a moving tale of love, friendship, family, and learning to forgive oneself for shortcomings. A Moment for Us gets five stars. I can't wait to read Oliver's story next. One question though: What about Alex?!

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
