Review: Finally You by Claudia Burgoa (Luna Harbor #1)

Note: An advance reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author.

Finally You is the first full-length novel in Claudia Burgoa's Luna Harbor series, which is a spin-off of the Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers series. There is a free prequel novella, Maybe It's You, which you don't necessarily need to read prior to this, but it does provide a bit of a nice introduction to the small town of Luna Harbor. The novel is a second-chance romance featuring Manelik Cantú, drummer for Too Far from Grace, and Nydia Vega-Knapp, owner of Lavender Moon Farms. When they were younger, their love knew no bounds, and they made promises that they believed would lead them towards a shared forever. But promises were broken, and the two had no choice but to go their separate ways. Now, they find themselves back in Luna Harbor, but neither one is the same as when they were years ago. As much as Nydia wishes she didn't have to cross paths with Mane, circumstances have actually led them to be a tad too close for comfort in her eyes. And while Mane insists he hasn't loved her in years, why is it that he can't seem to keep away from her?

This book was a strong beginning to Claudia Burgoa's new series, with a lot of angst and tension, it successfully held my attention from start to finish. Mane and Nydia had a truly heartbreaking back story in terms of the hows and whys of their relationship and how it all came to an end. It's a reminder that sometimes, there are matters that are out of our hands, and whatever it is we believe to be true can lead us to hurt and anger and push us to not pursue answers or clarifications. There was a great deal of all those negative thoughts and emotions brewing between our main characters for years, and for more than half of the book, those remain, but there's a whole back and forth due to not getting closure and long-held feelings that aren't so negative. Mane's family appear to be an interesting bunch, as are the rest of Mane's band mates, making all of them promising possible future main characters in the series. Well, not including Beacon Aldridge because he already got his happily-ever-after. All in all, Finally You was a notable 4.5-starred read.
