Review: His True North by A.M. Kusi (Shattered Cove #5)

The husband and wife writing duo that is A.M. Kusi is back with the fifth novel in their Shattered Cove series. His True North features Finn and Charli Reed, a married couple who were very much in love and preparing to welcome the birth of their first child when tragedy struck. Finn awakens from a coma and has no memory of the pregnant woman who claims to be his wife or anything else from the past sixteen years. As much as Charli loves Finn, she's unsure about what the future holds, especially given that he can't recall anything from their past together. To make things more complicated, Finn has discovered a journal belonging to him and going through the entries leaves him with far more questions than answers. Feeling the gap between them has Charli pulling back, but when her dark past comes back, will they get it together long enough to overcome onslaught?

The Shattered Cove series has certainly been an interesting one. The books were my introduction to A.M. Kusi and this writing partnership have done a good job creating the kind of stories that snag and keep my interest from beginning till end. Finn and Charli's story definitely had that element of suspense mixed in with the romance. There were layers upon layers of complications going on. Theirs had a slow but steady pace in terms of storytelling. Just like with the earlier books in the series, I couldn't tell who between the author duo wrote what, and to me, it highlights how well the Kusis work together. His True North is a tale about love, healing, and overcoming obstacles, and it gets four stars.
