Review: Pieces of Us by Claudia Burgoa (Sinners of Seattle #3; Second Chance Sinners #1)

Claudia Burgoa returns to her Sinners of Seattle series with the third novel, which is also the beginning of her Second Chance Sinners duet. My introduction to Burgoa's writing came by way of Unlike Any Other, the first in her Unexpected series, back in March of 2015, and that series remains my favorite from this author. However, it looks like her Sinners of Seattle books are giving the Unexpected books a run for their money. Now, we've got an M/M romance to add to the fold, and I confess, I was rather thrilled when I found out because Burgoa created one of my all-time favorite fictional M/M couples ever. And well, LGBTQ romance is actually a go-to romance subgenre, so I was a happy camper.

In Pieces of Us, the author gives readers and fans Zeke Hutchence and Ethan Killian, and these two put my heart through its paces. These two met at sixteen, with a shared love for music that inspired them to create a band with Hannah Hades-Bell, Tucker Decker, and Patrick Rokus--Sinners of Seattle. Another thing that Zeke and Ethan shared was their bisexuality, which would lead to shared firsts with each other. But forever wasn't meant for them--not for Zeke and Ethan nor for Sinners of Seattle. Ethan's life moves on, what with him becoming a highly successful CEO. And Zeke? He's just trying to get through each day...and maybe hope for one last moment with Ethan, even if it breaks him. Again.

I knew it. I knew this was going to end in a cliffhanger, but OMG!!! I felt my heart stutter to an near stop when I got to that last part. I will say, though, that I'm glad Claudia Burgoa is taking pity on her readers and releasing the final part to the Second Chance Sinners duet in about three weeks' time. BUT THAT STILL FEELS LIKE FOREVER!!! I'm desperate to know what happens next because I'm THAT invested in Zeke and Ethan's story. I want answers, but fine, I'll wait. My heart fell for these two, and then it cracked, and it started to mend, and now, I'm going to cross all my fingers and toes that it isn't going to break while I wait for Somehow Finding Us to be published. Gah! Pieces of Us receives five stars.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
