Review: I Pucking Love You by Pippa Grant (Copper Valley Thrusters #5)

Hilarity ensues in the fifth and newest addition to the Copper Valley Thrusters series! I Pucking Love You has, as expected, hockey, humor, and romance, but there's also some funeral-related shenanigans and Pippa Grant-created hijinks galore. You don't necessarily need to read the first four books in the series, but the characters from there do recur in this fifth one, but not in a disruptive way. Well, not disruptive to the reader, more of disruptive when it comes to the main characters. Snort laugh. So, if you're familiar with the series, then seeing the couples and other characters will be definite bonus. If you aren't, prepare to have you curiosity piqued and your to-be-read list added to once again.

I Pucking Love You is the story of a matchmaker who can't find herself a match, what more a date to take to a funeral. Yup, a funeral--her dearest friend's father's. Instead, Muffy Periwinkle has herself a volunteer, one that she wishes was someone else entirely. After all, Tyler Jaeger ghosted her after their, ummm, single...intimate...encounter. (Cough, hookup, cough.) Why the heck would he want to help her out? Her matchmaking skills may not be up to snuff, but even she knows that she and the advanced calculus-loving pro hockey player are a mismatch. Or are they? After all, she's been wrong before.

I pucking loved this book! (I HAD to do it!) It was fun AND it was funny, with both main characters just so darn appealing that resistance was futile. I laughed a lot; how could I not, what with Muffy and Tyler sharing a one-night stand that proved to be unforgettable (and not for the same reasons) and then the whole funeral date thing. Then there were all the well-meaning but oh-so-nosy people in their lives. This duo's story may have started off as awkward, but by the end, it had me saying "aww!" Five stars for I Pucking Love You.

Review: The Room Mate by Kendall Ryan (Roommates #1)

I do believe I've found myself a new book boyfriend to drool, erm, swoon over in Cannon Roth, male main character in bestselling author Kendall Ryan's Roommates series starter, The Room Mate . This had a familiar romance trope--falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling--and yet I didn't find it boring or tiresome in any way. This has both heart and heat as well as lighthearted humor along with a bit of heart-tugging angst and it's headlined by a couple of main characters that I was totally smitten with from the moment Paige got a pretty good idea of just how much her best friend's younger brother Cannon had grown up from the nerdy boy who followed them around like a puppy when they were kids.
