Review: The Rulers by K.I. Lynn (Heartless Kingdom #0.5)

Note: An advanced reader copy (ARC) was provided by the author via Foreword PR & Marketing.

The Rulers is the prequel novella to K.I. Lynn's new Heartless Kingdom series, and it's certainly a very promising beginning. Readers are introduced to Atticus de Loughrey and Ophelia Evans. On the night of her twenty-sixth birthday, Atticus's and Ophelia's paths cross and they indulge in a one-night stand that proves to be unforgettable. So, when Atticus is informed that in order for him to have access to everything that awaits him as a de Loughrey, he must be married within a year of his grandfather's death, as well as have an heir before he turns forty, he considers his lone solution and she has a name: Ophelia.

Welp, someone hand me a fan and some ice cubes, because K.I. Lynn has once again penned a heck of scorcher! If this novella is a sign of things to come, I'll probably need to park myself in front of the air conditioner when I get my greedy hands on the first full-length novel, which is the continuation of Atticus and Ophelia's story, Wicked Rule. Aside from the heat, of course, Lynn has piqued my curiosity as to what awaits the main characters, and I'm sure getting to their HEA will be a journey! 4.5 stars go to The Rulers
